Our guide kept us together very well, in spite of some large crowds in some of the locations. We had two very busy days and appreciated that we could ask questions as we went. It was clear that she was very knowledgeable about the country and customs. The 2 day tour was filled with information and points of interest. He did a wonderful job! In Russia, our guide was Viraneya and it was very easy to find our guide here as we had direction as soon as we went through Russian Customs. Volker also made recommendations for restaurants if you were interested in having dinner in the port after the tour. We had a traditional German meal and a German beer for lunch. We rode trains to Rostock and to Schwerin, and walked about from the train stations to our destinations. This is a walking tour, and we ended up walking about 7 miles this day. The first bit was a little confusing making sure we were with the correct tour, but once we were with Volker, we were well cared for! Volker was careful to manage our time well, and took care to make sure that the group was staying together.
In Germany, our guide met us near the ship (you will meet at the designated time even if your ship arrives early). The tours were excellent! They were also very different from each other. We took two tours with SPB, the walking tour of Schwerin Castle in Germany, and the 2 Day Deluxe Tour in St. They also guarantee that they will have you back to the ship on time, which takes the worry out of the tours. We were on a cruise and one reason that we chose SPB was because we could have smaller tour groups than if we chose ship tours.
